While I saw this in theaters when it first came out, I figure I'll stick to my semi-recent trend of reviewing the Academy Award nominated movies of which I thought Black Swan was phenomenal.
I'm sure you know the overall plot for this movie but in case not I'll give a brief rundown. A ballerina is chosen to play the parts of the White Swan and then the Black Swan in play put on by her dancing troupe. The problems come when she starts to imagine that the new girl is trying to take her spot. What follows is actually a pretty dark thriller, not what some people were expecting at all I feel.
First off I'll complement the acting. Natalie Portman deserved the Best Actress award and she rightly won it. To be able to dance like that period but also act is no easy task. The supporting actors and actresses were just as good as well.
While I loved the idea of the story and believe they did a great job with it and the direction they took, and I loved the acting. I do have some problem with the movie. Mainly the pace that it went at. I mean I know it was a movie about ballerinas but I don't think I was expecting a large, and I mean large, portion of the movie to just be about the dancing and the culture around it. So that made the movie progress really slow for me, which also made the thrilling moments (her acts of craziness) sporadic throughout the movie but that may work for the movie as they were genuinely scary (or at least surprising), so in that way I guess the pace worked for the effect of the movie but not this viewer. I still say you should go see it though, great movie.

great movie, i enjoyed it!
I really can't make it through slow movies, but I can't say no to a 4/5
I've heard both opinions about this movie, some love it, others hate it...
Though I'm still curious what I think of it :p
I've heard all sorts of things about this one, must see it
I really can't decide whether to see this or not. It's just that slow pace. Watching ballet over ten minutes could be hard for me.
When I went to see it I thought I will see Natalie Portman in a nice balet uniform doing some nice things if you catch my drift. But I was not! ready for what actually happened. :D
Good flick, and +followed for more.
I think it's totally true what they say about this one. Black Swan is the female version of Fight Club.
yeah saw this and have to say it was better than I expected
Saw this yesterday and thought it was good. Good ending
It's a psychological movie, far more than anything else, to my mind.
wait this isnt some wierd dancing chick flick? awesome. ill have to go take a look at it
I can't believe I haven't seen it yet! Now I want to see it more...
Its worth watching
I've watched this movie and I think it should receive more Oscars.
Great film in terms of psychological thrillers. Girlfriend didn't get it though lol
I've definitely gotta check out this movie! Natalie Portman is amazing
I've never seen it
A ballerina friend of mine put me off it...but I might give it a watch when it shows up on the NG

Thanks for the review! I still need to see it, and soon!
i have to watch this sometime, thanks for the review. :)
brilliant film, everything this guy puts out is amazing. Pi, Requiem for a dream and the Fountain are all great as well!
Nice review, have too see this flick man.
I have been dying to see this movie, and now I definitely shall.
I think I'll rent it when it comes out on Netflix. Thanks for the review!
Just saw it and its awesome, you gotta see it!
It's good to see Natalie recovering from our breakup so well. She took it kinda hard for a while...
I agree this was a great film!
great movie, one of the best this year
i saw this movie only cause i was dragged into it by my gf and i gotta say, it was by far one of themost overratted flicks of the year.
A friend of mine, who's done professional dance for about 3 years, said it was a pretty good interpretation of what the culture of dance is. Haven't seen it yet, but plan too!
I have to say I didn't enjoy it as much. I thought that it only developed her character and that the other ones were too stereotypical:
Mother living through her daughter because her life was ruined
Dancing instructor turns out to be a creepy guy who sleeps with his dancers
Older dancer is replaced and can't take it
The dancing was very good, shame Natalie Portman didn't do it all herself.
Still a good film but not as amazing as it was hyped up to be. For me at least
